Default 1966 Fuel sending unit wire

Hi All,
My son and I bought a partially finished '66 6cyl this weekend and now we're trying to find good reference guide to help us put our new project back together. Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks. Our first hurdle is hooking up the fuel sending unit wire. The wire is laying in the trunk and we know where it needs to hook up but we're stuck on how the wire gets from the trunk to the sending unit, had the back seats out and we just don't see how to route it. Any guidance would be welcome and would let us get our first item done on our punchlist! Thanks.

I can't go out and look right now but if memory serves me I think there is a hole in the passenger side drop off area

The wire should enter the trunk area on the drivers side up by the wheel well. After there, it should run along the back edge of the tank being held in place by clips bolted down with the tanks bolts. Once to the passenger side of the tank, there should be a hole that it fits into. Mine has a rubber bushing and doesnt want to come out. Then, right to the tank..

On my 67 it goes into the trunk over the left rear wheel well and roes across the trunk and through a hole on the right side just forward of the trunk. This is the only pic I have.

Hello and Welcome to the Mustang Forums....my son and I are working on his 67 inline six as well. Always something to do. If the 66 fuel sending unit wire is the same as the 67, look for a small hole in the trunk on the right hand side inside the holding area. The wire should go into that hole and then follow the gas tank to the sending unit. Should be a couple of clips to hold the wire in place.

Thanks for the replies. The pictures are great! The sheet metal in the trunk on the passenger side of our Mustang had been replaced shortly before we bought it so it looks like all we need to do is put the hole back in. We'll be using the pictures to get the hole in the right place. Thanks!
