Where's the power??
Brand new carb? Which brand? I bought a brand new Holley DP and had to clean it before it'd work correctly. I was having a similar problem at 4500 rpm (with a 6500 rpm engine). Also, make sure you are actually flowing enough fuel to the carb. I'm able to turn 6500 rpm with a Weiand Stealth manifold and stock (port-matched) heads on my 302 without any problems.
the intake and carb is really the only power difference you are going to notice but only 20-25hp
cam/hipo exhaust manifolds or headers/exhaust - best bang for the buck
heads - pricey but big hp gain
rear end gear ratio and timing are a few other things to consider to increase power.

i have heads and cams waiting to go in, we'll have to see what that does.....
EIT: i just put a new edelbrock performance fuel pump in as well, so i think the gas is getting there.... the heads and cam shaft are matched to the intake and carb, so we'll see where the takes us...
Dodgestang. I'm going to check on the throttle tomorrow, i think that might be a little bit of the problem....
unless your current heads are shot and you have a poor flowing exhaust, your current set up should still run extremely well especially w/ 3.70 gears.
Have you adjusted the timing/checked plugs?

I have a 9" rear posi, 3.70 gears, The carb is a 600 cfm edelbrock carb, the intake manifold is a edelbrock performer.

I can only tell you that there is something wrong if you loose power that low a rpm, double check the throttle and then timingand rest of ignition. Engine should pull good at least to 5200 unless the cam is worn out or some other major problem.
Alright guys, i will. I'm going to drop the car off at my specialists place and he's going to do some suspension work, so i'll have him check it out, cause i just can't find the problem....
thanks a ton guys, i'll let you know how it turns out....

sounds to me like it might be an ignition problem. If you have shot points, the spark can break down at higher revs. Are you getting full spark advance? Did you reconnect the vacuume advance hose?If you have replaced the pump, you should be getting fuel, and as dodgestang says, check you are getting full throttle.
Any why would you want to look at new blocks?
