Default 4.11s

So I have a 65 mustang. Stock for the most part. The rearend I'm guessing is a 8". What are the stock gear ratios? Some 4.11s for a ford 8" on ebay, starting price $100. (brand new) I probably wouldnt buy them cuz i dont know about gearing but, how would a 4.11 differ from a stock ratio or from a 4.10 etc? Thanks guys.

There is alittle metal tag on your rear end that will tell you the gear ratio. Mine is 2.75, but that is on a 9". Yours is probably close to that anyways..

Maybe you could consider 3.50's? They are easy to find and cheaper than 4.11's, and will give you easier driving...

You wouldn't notice the difference between a 4.10 and 4.11 gear set.

The most common ratios for that era are 3.00 and 2.78. Going to a 4.11 would be a very drastic change (4000 rpm at 80mph for a 25.5" tall tire). Unless you have a high performance engine, I wouldn't consider it. For a stockish engine, 3.50 would be more than adequate.

I've got 4:11's in my truck and it really screams on the highway, and around town too. It's really bad for gas mileage unless you have an OD transmission.
