looking at a 69 Mach 1...trying to match the VIN#'s....never done this before, any advice would be appreciated...use the VIN# from the Dashboard under the window..wherer is the VIN # on the Motor supposed to be??? Is there one on the transmission, and where?? ....any other numbers important to match????? Any help, info would be appreciated??

From what I remember the vin# is stamped on the bottom of the engine block. It might be covered up by something such as oil or dirt. I don't know exactly how to read the vin#'s, but you can still match the dates up. For instance the block should have been built maybe 3 weeks to a month before say the fenders or something else. As long as the date codes are in a resonable range, then it should be the origional engine. I hope this makes sense to everyone lol.

 

Ain't no VIN's on the engine or trans. On the dash and inside the the door jamb on the drivers side.

 

Numbers matching means the engine code in the vin and engine match. The door data plate tells what tranny, rear, interior, body type etc.

 

don't know if and where it's on a'69, but in my "71 grande was it just behind the intake manifold. just the last 7 digits or so
