missing vin number
During the restoration of my 66 mustang the body shop replaced the drivers fender apron. When I noticed I asked for the piece and I was told it was thrown out. Is there any way I gan get the vin stamped into the new metal? I still have the original on the drivers door. Any help would be appreciated
You might be better off leaving it the way it is, unless you can make it look exactly as it came from the factory. I don't know if you are going for a concourse resto or just making it the way you want. But, there are three VIN's on the engine aprons, 2 on the drivers side and one on the passengers side.
I have seen a couple of people who have had the the front part of the driver's side apron replaced. They just cut the fender where the other VIN is shown on the driver's side to make it visable for everyone. You could do the same for the passengers side if the entire driver's side apron was replaced.
Maybe not the best answer, but it is an option.
