Default Remote Trunk Release

Has anyone bought this kit and installed it on a 1996 coupe? If so, was it easy to install? Do you recommend it? How much drilling is involved? Does it actually work?

I won't install one. My dad installed one on an old car, and the cable broke. We had to go through the back seat to get the trunk open. I will just use a key.

I was thinking about this...but I really don't see the need. If Im coming outta a store and need to get in the trunk, Im gonna have to unlock the car to get to the trunk so I might as weel just unlock it with a key.

i have instaalled one on my 66 and it WORKS GREAT. the kit came with instructions on how to route it through the car and where to put the clamps and all the hardware to put it in. it also allows you to use the key to open the trunk so if the cable breaks NO BIG DEAL. i cant see the cable breaking though it works to smoothly and doesnt bind. the hardest thing about putting it in is adjusting the cable at the lock, its a pretty easy install. also, there are only 2 screw holes you would see if you wanted to return to a standard open trunk.[sm=gears.gif]

i think it was a dealer option....i dono if its too old....anything cable operated is fairly primitive....its just a nice convinence like power steering, disc brakes, A/C etc......i dont see anything wrong with it really......

you knew that buying a classic means you are gonna have to sacrifice convience. I wouldnt do it because it just takes something out of it being a classic.

its not like buying an entire A/C system, those are expensive, this is a inexpensive kit
