Default Carburetor

CJPonyParts is offering free shipping now and I'm getting tempted looking at a 600cfm Edelbrock Endurashine. I know you guys recommended just having my rebuilt but why is that? And what other new items would I need in addition to the new carb if I got it?

dont buy an edelbrock carb. they are junk. buy a holley. those are much better. you will be much happier. edelbrock only makes good manifolds, thats it. the carbs are junk.

What was your experience? I've heard a lot of good things about them

i had one on my 67 mustang. car always ran like crap. changed the carb to a holley, ran like a champ. i also worked in a mechanics shop for a little over a year, just building high performance motors, and we never used and edelbrock unless we had too.

If you buy the Edelbrock, will you sell the other one?

Interesting - I had just the opposite experience - fought a Holly for months. Bought the tweak kit with all the extra parts... Tried different cams, springs, the whole ball of wax, but always ended up with a dry spot someplace in the RPM band. Switched to a 500CFM performer, and it ran like a clock. Go figure...

the edel/carter is a great mild carb for mild cars, its by no means a full tilt racing carb and wasnt designed so. It is a very easy carb to tune and they hold a tune nicely. But when its time to get serious, its holley time

I'm such a newbie [>:]. What do you mean by edel/carter. Obviously I know what the edel means but what is with the carter part? Hopefully I'm just having a brain fart
