Found this "great deal" and wondering if anyone has any input on it. I am interested in Tri Y's so this deal looked pretty good. I like the look of chrome, but am mostly concerned with the endurance of the header. I do not race, its just street but want a stock manifold upgrade...

ARE MAC HEADERS ANY GOOD???

 

Ceramic coated headers will not only last longer, they will keep a lot of the heat out from inside your engine bay. They are expensive though. The chrome headers tend to turn blue from the heat.

 

and chrome will still rust over time. The coated headers sometimes last longer than the car does. I havent bought a set of non coated headers for some time now..

my shorty chrome finished ceramic coated headers from JBA are totally peeling and stuff, so i dono....sounds like they need to develop some awesome new coating that dosent get mangled if u drive your car at all....

 

Check on the tube diameter. A lot of the Tri-Y headers have 1.5" diameter primary tubes. That's a bit on the small size for a decent breathing 302.

High temperature powder coating is an option...

 

i plan to get the mac headers and h pipe with 40 flows dumped before the axle. i like it loud.
