Strut bar bracket bent...help
Hey guys,
Apparently my 67 was run over something one time or another. Prob a curb or something. Anyway, the side of strut rod brace is bent and I would like to straaighten it out. Tried hammer and dolly, not a chance. Beat on it a lil with a sledge hammer, some movement, but I am affrraid I am going to crack it or something.
So my thought is heating the metal with a benzo torch before hammering it. Do you think this would help make the metal more pliable, or do you think It would not even generate enough heat?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Those little butane torches will not produce the amount of heat you will need to get the metal red hot so you can hammer it back to being straight. My suggestion is to replace the bent rod with a new one unless you have an acetelene/oxgen torch.
