The 351c is a small block Ford v8.
The small block ford bell housing is cast into the block of the motor and it has been that way since the first one was made and it was that way when the last one was made.

doesn't the 351c use the same bellhousing as the 351m/400 and 429/460? In that case it is NOT the same bellhousing as a FE (390, 428, etc.) Soaring, the 390 was short lived in Mustangs, but not in Fords in general, well, maybe compared to 302s which were around forever it seems. The 390s were used in Ford vehicles from 1961-1976 in many vehicles. 352 was the smallest displacement FE produced, still considered a big block. 351c is in the 335 series of motors, which I consider a big block but I guess is a subject for debate. Dodgestang, I which you wouldn't have called the 390 a boat anchor, I am tired of hearing this argument. I know it is your opinion, but many will disagree, we have seen it a thousand times on this forum. I strongly disagree, however I am a very big FE fan. Sure, FE parts are hard to find and expensive when you find them, and I have a lot of money in my 428, but to get a small block to push 450 hp and stump pulling torque, and be reliable and dependable, I think you would more money in that combo. I have noticed many members on this forum are 351c fans, why? They are even MORE expensive to build and harder to find parts. I think there is too much hype over the 351c IMO.

The 351C/351M/400M/windsor/Y are all small blocks.
The FE/FT/385 are all big blocks.
The determination of big or small has nothing to do with the displacement, it denotes the physical size of the engine. The FE big block ranged in displacement from 332-428 cid.
