Air compressor replacement?
When driving back home from town today, my old York air conditioner compressor locked up. The poor old thing is 42 years old, so I guess it paid its' dues and is now ready for compressor heaven. Anyway, I have been pondering which compressor to replace it with, and everyone seems to think the Sanden is the cat's meow. I found one on Ebay. Take a look at it and tell me if you think it is a good price, and will it simply bolt on with the kit that comes with it.

I sell that compressor for 190 and the bracket for 55. The complete bracet set is a nicer way to go. With that adapter you will have to modify your tensioner bracket. Also need to change condenser for maximum cooling.
The complete bracket set with tensioner and pulley is 106.00. I installed one last week and it is a really nice setup. I have used three of those York adapters and they work ok. There is some welding to be done to make your tensioner work. I would have to check on the hoses and drier. Drier should be about 30. Probably around 45 for the hoses. I would chaneg the condensor. R-12 and R134 condensor are completely different. R-134 has many more molecules that R12, thus requireing a different condensor. The R-12 is a tube and fin and the R-134 is a micro tube design.
OK, well I had the 134A conversion a few years back, and it blew plenty of cold air with the old condenser. So, I guess you are saying I need a whole new system. Is that right?

My '65 has a different compressor mount with bulit in tensioner bracket. I don't need it though, because tension can be adjusted with the tensioner on the power steering unit which runs off the same belt.
