Default beefing up the 8inch

ok ok ok, ive looked and looked and i just cant seem to find a 9inch rear end that isnt tooooo expensive. so i have just decided to beef up the 8inch rear end i have in it now. my question, how? take it off, clean it up, re-seal it, new gears and a mini-spool? any suggestions would be helpful!

Doesnt a mini spool essentailly lock the diff at all times? If so, you cant drive on the road with it. You need differental action to be able to go around corners. If all you want to do is trailer to the strip, then drive straight for 1/4 mile, go for it.

no i dont want that, i have heard that the spools and mini-spools and lockers can act funny sometimes, and in cruise control. i dont know much about rears, yet, so any ideas on what i could do? anyone?

67 - 70 is 54 1/2 inches. that might be too long

spools are like 100% locked 24/7....its like both wheels are totally connected to each other basically.....

i believe the downside to a locker is that it makes clicking sounds when going around corners.....

i think LSD is similar to a locker but its silent and its clutch pack can wear out.....

i think i remember seeing a silent locker......prob make it for every rear end except the ford 8"....or if they do....its probably more than ur car cost to begin with....

stronger for what? are you going to be pushing out a lot of HP??? i wouldnt see the point in pushing out tons of HP and not having posi.........so stronger would imply ur getting up there in HP and if your doing that, then you better be able to get it to the ground......one wheel wont cut it off the line i bet.....

yea true, im only going for 300, and i know i dont have that yet. its my daily driver and not a drag racer, maybe once or twice to see what i get though at the track. so, a posi and a rebuild for the rear?
