best cooling
ok ive got two questions for yall today... the first one is a cooling question... my car like most 66 mustang overheats alot and i wanted to know what would be the best solution for this? a electric fan? and where is the best/cheapest place to order one? the second is i talked to a friend about a problem with my car that no one can seem to fix and he said it was most likely the starter. so what kind and how much should i spend. or is a starter a starter? and it dosnt make that much diffrence. thanks for your opnions.
The best cooling solution for a first gen Mustang is to open the radiator support up and install a '67-'68 radiator. The amount of additional surface area makes a huge difference.
As for starters, I like the gear reduction units, as long as you have room behind your headers. And a thermal wrap is very helpful.
Good luck,

Good luck,
its all about air flow to the engine, i honeslty just had this issue and i have an electric fan in it before then i switched the stock fan and shroud. Now its fine just not if its idling. I would sell you my electric fan porbley but im not going to lie i think stock is the way to go. Shroud to find a good carbon fiber one because if you use plastic it will melt take it from someone who nows haha
if you want a cheap electric fan, go to your local junkyard and take one out of a 90's mustang......its not like their gonna be using it anytime soon, picked one up awhile back for 30 bucks canadian....perfect condition.
No, you have it backwards. If your car is only overheating at the stoplight it means that their isn't enough air flowing through the radiaitor because of two reasons: 1) your're stopped and their is no ambient air movement 2) your engine is idling at low rpm so the radiator fan is turning slower.
First, you should try a fan shroud if you don't have one. If you do have one, then remove it and install an electric fan. Electric fans turn high rpms at idle because they aren't engine driven.

This set up work perfectly for me. Stock desert 4 row 68 radiator with dual spall 11" fans custom mounted. I have driven it in 105 degree weather and it won't go over 190 even sitting in traffic with my 347 stroker. If you can get this set up in your 66 you will never have any problems again. Oh you will need a bigger alternator!! hehe
