Can someone tell me the proper bolt size for the 2 that hold the trunk latch? Its on a 67cp, thanks!

quarter inch? 1/2 almost fit, but i didnt want to get 7/16 and come back home and it be metric or something...

 

There were no metric sizes on a 67 Mustang. Those bolt heads are 1/2" on my 65. Probably the same on yours.

 

I happend to find a 7/16 in my basement and it fit snugly, 1/2 will not fit at all. Also, this is an aftermarket lid, so maybe the stupid taiwans drilled the holes the wrong size, i wouldnt doubt it.

I just went to the store the other week to buy metric bolts for my car, now i have to figure out what that was haha

 

The bolts are messured by the size of the shaft and the pitch of the thread. The bolt size is 1/4 inch by 20 thread per inch. The size of the wrench that will turn the typical 1/4 20 bolt is 7/16.

 

Get a set of thread gauges. They're cheap and really handy.

 

OK, well the bolt head size on my 65 is 1/2". Did Ford go to a different bolt head size on the 67's for this application. 7/16 doesn't even come close to fitting my factory 65 latch bolts.

 

Apparently so, mine are 7/16 as well on the 1967 coupe.
