MPG on a 351 Cleveland
Why even worry about the mileage? It's only gasoline. The long black station wagon that takes you to your final resting spot only gets about 9 miles per gallon, so live it up while you can! You'll be dead a long time.
I didn't mean to make it seem like I had money..To me owning a car with a 351 cubic inch engine and then worrying about the gas mileage is like buying an aquarium and then worrying about the cost of the fish. Old V8's get anywhere from 8 to 16 miles per gallon. If you want better mileage and have an auto ,spring for an AOD tranny. Again..just enjoy the drive. None of this will matter at all in the long run.
I have to say I agree with bodyputtyless. It does not make a whole lot of sense to worry about MPG in a classic with a v-8. Me personally I would love to not need to worry about how much it is going to cost me to fiil up my cars/van. Heck last month we spent something like $550 on gas for our vehicles. And with everything that is going on in the world it looks like prices are going to continue to go up. Additional Money is tight for us right now, so everytrip to the pumps hurts the budget.
My 72 has a cleveland and I try to drive it every weekend and some during the week. Of course of all the vehicles in our family My 02 Mustang GT has the smallest engine at 4.6 and gets the best MPG at 23.5 average and I commute 50 miles each way to work.
