rearend questions
i wanna put a 9"or an 8.8" rearend under my 69 coupe currently i only have a 7.5" rearend with 2.80 gears i was wondering what cars could i pull a rearend out of and would the newer foxbody rearend work?
Yes, a newer Fox body 8.8" would work just fine. In fact seeing as you have 4 lug all ready, you don't even have to change wheels, as the Fox body is a 4 lug rear.
You need to cut off all the brackets and weld a set of spring perches on to set your pinion angle at 3 degrees. You may have to do something with your P. Brake cables. I'm not sure how the 69 is set up. Worse case you call Motion Pro industries and tell them what you need for cables.
Go grab a couple of axles and drums from two Rangers (IIRC drivers side), and you've got a 5 lug setup. Go to North Racecars and you can have rear Cobra disc brakes.
Go to Unique Performance and you can have an 8.8" Independent Rear Suspension out of a late model Cobra.
But most importantly, learn to use the search function, in this and other Mustang forums. All your questions will be answered, with more reading material than you can process in a years time. You can pick out posts and threads from people who have done these mods, and learn the pros and cons.
Good luck,
