You cannot get the airgap design in the performer model. That only comes in the performer RPM intake and the Vic Jr.

Not about to switch trannys agian . Just went through a lot of work and $$ to switch from the C4 to the toploader (david kee). Its what ive been wanting for some time. Ive been told the performer IS based on the original 289 manifold, but flows much better.

Skip changing the rear gears and change the toploader to a 5 speed and go with the RPM or RPM airgap. The regular performer isn't a whole lot better than a stock 4bbl intake. You don't want the power to start kicking in really good until the RPM's are up anyway.

This is new to me, so I want to understand before puchasing. You mean you have to grind away part of the manifold to make the dizzy fit?
ORIGINAL: Twister
the air gap is great for higher RPM engines that like to scream, however the distributor will not clear it without some grinding

I have never heard of any clearance issues, however I`ve not tried it with a stock dizzy. I use a Mallory Unilite.
IMO buy the Air-Gap and never look back.
I`m all about performance, but this comes with a killer look too

Didn't know you'd just swapped in the top loader. Still something to keep in mind since the hard part of the tranny swap is already done.

Thats good news. I also have the Mallory Unilite Thanks for post pics, first time i've seen a close up of one. Just out of curiousity, why the vaccume advance and not mechanical on the Mallory?

You are correct, they do not make a performer version. It is a typo on Summit's website. So, I am going to try a spacer and keep the performer manifold.
