body filler?

Default body filler?

whats the bad part about bondo? im fixing some rust and instead of bondo im thinking about using fiberglass resisn.

Bondo used sparingly and correctly is not neccesarily a bad thing, as a fix all it is terrible.

IMO its better to use it to fill in small dents.

i have it lightly on on car. its just on huge areas. i have alot of little dints that im not worried about but as u can see on this

under my fenders on the firewall i have 2 small rust holes that i want to repair. im going to use metal tape and fiberglass to repair it

Body fillers such as Bondo have a tendency to soak up moisture, therefore causing rust from under the body filler. Used sparingly, and only as a means to get the body piece smooth, it loses most of the water retention property. It's when you gob it on that it becomes your enemy.

what about fiberglass? beacuse i used it to fix my cowl area under my dash and it hasnt leaked since ive done that

i used the fiberglass setup for POR15 and then used their epoxy putty on top of that and its every bit as strong as the metal around it.....maybe stronger......then u just sand it and smooth it out with some filler.....

Its going to be best in the long run to just weld in some new metal and be sure all the old rust is cut out. Just filling the hole full of fiberglass is just going to be a temporary fix.

Yeah, the fiberglas will eventually turn loose from the rust, then you will have the same problem as before, but with a gob of fiberglas hanging.
