Pertronix is good for stockish engines and if you want to hide any modifications since it fits under the distributor cap.

Basically, the Pertronix is an ignition module. The distributor distributes the spark from the coil to the appropriate spark plug. An ignition box is a a box that controls the ignition. The best ignition systems will have boxes along with the option to plug in multiple modules for such things as spark control, window switches, etc. Take a read at MSD to get some more information on one of the better systems available (6AL).
