ok so come to find out somehow the duct tape i put on the mani to keep dirt out was left on when the carb was put on. dont ask how. I have been driving it for a month now and no probs untill today after i got new tires and on the drive home my idle just droped and not it wont idle smooth and when i am driving it jerks like its starving for gas. weird that it happened today but could it be the tape or you think it would just burn up? Im lost i really think i just need a pro tune up! what you guys think.

LOL...

I would assume since you are posting that the duct tape was left on, that you have now pulled it off. A couple of questions...

1. When did you pull the tape off, before it started running rough, afterward? If afterward, is it still running rough?

2. How did the tape look when you pulled it off? Like, could a piece have been sucked down into the intake? If so, how big a piece was missing?

I would think, that if it had run fine for a month before you noticed the tape, then there had to be some amount of air flow from the carb to the manifold, else the thing wouldn't have even cranked up.

If there was any missing, it could have been sucked down into the intake. If it was a large enough piece, it could have stopped up the port to the valve or could be hung up around the valve, cutting off gas/air to that cylinder.

Just some guesses.

yeah there is was about 3square inches sucked into the intake. it ran fine for a month and now its having problems i dont know if it could just now effect it or just not tuned right.

where exactly is the duct tape? Between the carb and the manifold? If it is, you have an intake leak.

Take the carb off, clean both the gasket/spacer surface and the manifold. Replace and torque to spec.

That's not going to do it if some of the tape is inside the intake. If it is, then the intake has to come off to remove the tape unless you can reach it through the top of the intake with the carb off.

I would be worried about tape all through-out that engine....it is probably in the valves
