so i am like 3 days form driving my car on the free way and to work but my starter died i fixed that next i find out when i drive it down the street i wont shift out of 1st i Will be gong 25+ mph and it wont shift..... i need help i want to drive this bad..... o ya i was diving it straight headers all my neighbors like watching me... lol

 

Okay Im going to guess you have a c4 auto.

Your modulator might be bad, your modulator might need adjusting, your modulator may have lost vacuum suction due to broken line.

Or you ground 2nd gear to dust (hope not )

When did it last work correctly? How old is the trans?

yes it is a c4.... it worked just fine about 2-3 months ago i will check the modulater.... how do i adjust it

 

Remove the Vac hose from the modulator its self, once you pull the hose off the modulator you will find that it actually fits around the outside edge of an adjusting screw and that adj screw head actually sticks out past the can of the modulator.

I THINK you turn the screw to the left (back it out) about a 1/4 to half turn at a time to reduce shift rpm and turn to the right (screw it in) to increase shift RPM.

I might have this backwards but im about 75% sure thats how it goes

Also check the fluid level to make sure it is full, and inspect the likage to see if it is binding somewhere.

 

ya i made sure i checked the fluid and i was like a qt. low i was not saprised though...... i will chrck the modulator when i get back home form work
