Default Back seat belts

The back seat belt in my car are to long and loose for my skinny underfeed children-called VA mustang and he said the ones he sells are long too...do you think if they are cut and restiched by a canvas/boat guy they will be safe?

any suggestions or ideas on getting a smaller belt for the back?

the "female"part of the belt is to long, even when the "male" part is as small and tight as it goes-I guess I could feed the kids and fatten them up!
thanks scott

Absolutely a child booster seat is in order. That way you kill two birds with one stone. The belt that comes with the booster seat is just right for the kid, and the lap belt will be usable for an adult when and if you need it for an adult.

Aren't these belts adjustable at the base/mounting point? My front belts can be adjusted at the base/mounting point because there are two plates in which the belts intertwine - kind of like strapping into a motorcycle helmet. I believe the rears should be the same, so all you would have to do is remove the seat and adjust them - can anyone confirm this?

Yup - still stock belts, and it's still only a lap belt. Money, after the wedding, will next be spent on a roll bar with either attaching points for a three-point retractable belt system or five-point racing harness (hmm, sounds like a new poll to me...). For now, the car is not much safer than my motorcycle... [:@]
