Default data plate

i got a 68 coup without the original engine.right now it has a big block 390. the data plate is 8T01X224565. the fifth character X is the engine code but there is no such thing as a X listed in the book. i think it originaly has a 289 so the letter should be C i think.( it lists the 390 as a S ) i'm stumped. can anyone help? thankyou very much.

You have an original big block car, the X code is for a 390 2V. The S code you mentioned is for a 390 4V.

Hi pony Boy,
I'm the new owner of the 8T01X224565 and I'm French so your mustang travel a lot, my English is not very well but tell me more about the mustang.
She was arrived yesterday at home and I have some doubt about the motor, Have you put a S or X code in the mustang ?
Do you have pictures of the mustang when you had it ?
The body seems to have suffered ? Is it the case when you have it ?

I hope you can give me a respond because see you are inactive since 2005.
Regards
