Default Noisy clutch return spring under dash.....

Anyone have any tricks or ideas on how to quiet the return spring? Should I just get a new one, or will they be "noisy" as well? I am running the stock 4 speed with the z-bar linkage, so I am assuming I need to keep the return spring.

Thanks for any and all help.

That is actually not a return spring that is an assist spring. Without it your clutch pedal will be very hard to push!

Thank you very much for responding 67t5ponycoupe. You got the best of my curiosity, so I went underneath the dash today to see how the heck it could be an assist spring. Now I see how it is, and I also found my noise. I sprayed some silicon lubricant on the spring where it connects to the clutch pedal, and the noise is gone. It is now quiet as a church mouse............and speaking of mice, please check out my other post about mice!

I find it amazing how many guys would use WD40 to quiten it down. Good choice on the silicone spray. Now, unless you are Goliath, I would not take that spring off to add any padding. Been there, done that.

Those springs are not that hard to take on and off. The trick is to diconnect your equalizer bar and do it with the clutch pedal on the floor. Sorry about your luck with the mice. Bet ya $10 you ain't found them all!
