Default carb choke/vacuum line question

i was wondering if anyone knows where the vacuum choke line on the carb (left back side of carb when facing the front of the engine)goes to. My does not have a line connecting to it, it has been left un capped and with out a line that connects it some were since i bought it. i have 2 vacuum ports on the at the back of the intake man. and am thinking that it should be hooked to one of those. Ill get pictures of what im taking about soon, i hope you can understand my discription for now.

Here are some pics of mine. There are two copper/brass lines with fuzzy stuff around them that go into the exhaust manifold, then go up into the carb and choke.

i pretty much took off all exmission stuff(its a cally car, and don;t worry i kept the parts) and i took put on new headers etc. but even then i never had a vacuum line run to anyoff it. So is it that important for choke and proper idle? im gunna grab some pics of the car right now it will also show all the work ive been doing since i had it off the road may 8th.

It will affect the choke but it will still work if you have the heater hose running through the bracket on the side of the carb. If you want to leave it off just plug the ports on the carb.

I was going to say that, but didn't because I don't have a brake booster, but have heard many guys on here say they get their brake booster vaccum from that very spot. Some guys even have a tree to stem off that spot for a vacuum source.

In the top pic the big steel line is for the brake booster. The other one on the tree that are pugged could be for anything you need them for like vacuum modulator on the transmission. That looks like a later model motor. Not sure the early ones had that many vacuum ports on the manifold.

The bottom pic is showing the side of the carb. The are two line that need to hook up there or plug them, take your pic. The red arrow shows one point that need hooked up or plugged. I can't see wher the other one goes but they should both be plugged or used. I highlighted where the bimetalic spring is at that controls the choke in purple. Since your heater hose is in the right place the choke will still open because the heater hose will get hot and heat up the bimetalic spring behind the black disc.

its the original block and everything even had part of the cally emissions left on it. the copper colored line that runs of the vacuum port runs to my tranny it was that rubber line that runs outa the same block thats plugged wit ha nail is were i thought the vacuum line for the carb went. i forgot to add i don't have a brake booster and it doesn't look like it ever has had one, but ive always wondered what it was for.
