I actually have a disconnect switch that kills all power to the distributor.

With that said. I love my car as much as you do. One thing the power tour taught me is that my car is not a shelby so therefore it is not as desirable as many other cars.

I pulled into a hotel and was worried about leaving my car over night, and then I saw a 71 Hemi Cuda convertible in perfect condition, any thief would take that way before they touched my 73.

A simple car alarm and lock the doors when you leave it is sufficient. Hard core thieves aren't interested in an old Mustang when they can get a 60K Mercedes just as easy .
With that said, there are a ton of things you can do. Take a read here.

I don't totally agree with you Soaring. These cars are great to steal because a good one can bring in a lot at a chop shop. I think you should be okay with just an alarm and good locks though. The dizzy cap idea is always an option too. If you really want a serious restomod install On Star

I read someone had a toggle switch that was hidden and covered. The only way to flip the switch was to use a magnet that the driver kept on his keychain. Good idea IMO.

I agree. These cars although popular with us are not high on the list of cars to steal. I have and still do remove the coil wire and maybe disconnect the MSD 6A box. Taking the distributor cap might be a little much. I would get tired of connecting all the wires back up. And this keeps the punks from at least being able to go on a joy ride on impulse. They may still be able to get in but they are not going to spend the time to figure out what parts of the car I have disabled.
There are to many other easy targets that they can steal and unload the parts much easier than old Mustang parts!

+1

Yeah - with makes like BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, Jaquar, Lexus, and Ferrari populating the parking structure at the office more than any other make (and likely in that order - I have one of the only American cars), I'm really not too concerned.

"Agreed Value" insurance helps too - but I would just be out all of those man-hours... [:@]
