Default Need buying advice!!! 1969 Fastback

Always wanted a classic Mustang and fell in love with this 1969 351 with 4-spd. Not sure if it's worth the money or if it's #s matching. So please lend some help. VIN is 9f02M138422 which matches up with sportsroof, 351 4v, and 4-spd but the VIN tag on the dash looks homemade. It runs and sounds great but doesn't seem that fast and the 4-speed is tough to shift, the spring separating reverse and 2nd is weak. Also the clutch sticks on release, the clutch engages but the pedal sticks and then pops up. Steering is very loose and car floats pretty good. Nothing I can't fix but want some advice before plunking down the cash.

Looks like a very clean car. The floating can be fixed with a new set of shocks. No big deal.

The trim on that car suggests to me it MAY be a factory GT. Knowing the price would be nice. How about a pic of the VIN you question too.

It doesn't look like a Mach 1. It does look like it is in good condition. I would say with out knowing exactly what it is (need the info from the drivers side door sticker) that it would be a decent deal for 15k. Tops 18k.

The asking price is $28k which seems high to me for non-numbers matching. But the paint appears flawless and the interior is immaculate except for the steering wheel. No tach in the dash so does that rule out a factory GT option?

Thanks everyone who is helping!

there are a very little factory GT's for 69, theres a small chance this is one. the Mach 1's, Boss', and shelbys had the tach in the dash, i am not sure about the GT. this appears to be a sportsroof

The Machs didn't all have tach's in the dash, nor did the GT's. There should be a "buck tag" in the engine compartment somewhere, any information off that could be very helpful in determining exactly what version sportsroof it is. Also, what does the drivers door tag say as far as the codes (listed under the warranty number). I would love to see a pic of the gas cap, GT's in 69 had special flip-open gas caps. It is most likely not a Mach and probably a plain Sportsroof, but it's an outside poosibility it is a GT. The GT's in 69 had rocker stripes just like the pics. Without pinpointing which Sportsroof it is, value is hard to determine, but I can tell you by looking at the pics that 28K seems pretty steep.
