Need buying advice!!! 1969 Fastback
Pic of gas cap attached.
So 28k is too much. How much is it worth roughly if it's:
1. A well done GT clone ?
2. A well done original, #s matching GT restored?
3. A decently restored Sportsroof without #s matching?

It's at least in the 20K range. I judged 5 Shelby GT500 KR Cobra Jet 428's a few weeks ago at the MOCA mustang show, and those guys said they wouldn't even consider less than 125K for their cars. These good ones are getting really expensive. So, if it is really a true factory GT, the asking price of 28K may not be too far out of line. I wouldn't pay that much for an old used Ford, but a lot of other people will.
Yabba dabba doo....That's the cap I was hoping to see. You my friend are very probably looking at a very desirable 69 Mustang GT Sportsroof. I would look very carefully under the hood to see if the "buck tag" has the very important GT designation. The fact this car appears to have the 4-barrel 4 speed drivetrain raises the ante considerably. Value can be difficult to comprehend but my opinion is that if the car is indeed a VERY rare 1969 Sportsroof GT, with the 4-Speed, V-4 drivetrain, it may very well be worth 18K+ just the way it sits. Very cool, the chances it isn't a real GT, with that VERY special gas cap, are slim. JMHO.
