Soaking Exhaust Gaskets?
Well here I am back again posting about manifold gaskets. Put in napa metal perforated and filed the headers and all but one leak is gone. One cylinder on the drivers side is ticking...
How bad is it to let an exhaust leak like that go unattended?
Can I soak exh gaskets for a better seal?
I've heard people suggest soaking exh gaskets... is it a good idea? If so How long do you soak?
Eventually I want some nice expensive headers that self seal rather than these cheap ones. But I am poor so I will have to make due.
Thanks
Tom

Never heard of that but, go get a good set of metal (copper) gaskets. You will never need to change them again. Like these Copper Gaskets
I used a set of these on my 55 chevy which was always blowing out gaskets, I put a set of these on and never had a problems again.

The problem with copper gaskets is... I can't find any for a Cleveland. Or aluminum for that matter...
I tried the Percy's XX carbon gaskets but the port sizes don't match my headers...
Any other cleveland owners out there?

So I've determined the problem... I should have looked more closely when re-attaching the headers. I just recently bought the car and it had the headers already on it... It appears that the previous owner put 2bbl headers on 4bbl heads. Anyone who knows about Clevelands knows the port sizes vary between the heads. So there is my problem. No gasket it gonna fix that.
Anyone know of some good 4bbl cleveland headers?
Inexpensive is good too... I'm low on $
thanks
