Default Splashgaurd attachment..

I had 2 decent guards, 1 rotted gaurd, and one missing, so I went ahead and bought a new kit. With the kit came little staple shaped metal to attach the rubber to metal, but no instruction or anything to help. Anyone know what kinda tool would punch those staples through the splashgaurds? Hammer did not work haha...I used Loctite grabber to hold it to the metal, and I'd like to go back over it with the staples...Thanks!

I just got some splash guards for my 68. The rubber came stapled to the guards already. You could use self tapping screws.

Use a small drill bit and predrill it. Then tap the stapes through and roll them over on the other side.

Definitely pre drill the holes. The staples that came with mine were a bear to bend. Be patient and expect this to be a moderately frustrating and unfullfilling task.

Roofing nails would be better than tapping screws since there is no head to hit againt the metal it is trying to mount to. I was thinking about pre drilling them, but these are barely bigger than a normal staple and the smallest drill bit would still be to large. I have them secure though, thanks everyone...

You can pick up a numbered drill bit set up to 80 at a local hobby shop pretty cheap. The #80 drill bit is so small it's hard to tell it's a drill bit. Somewhere between a #60 and #80 will be the correct size bit.

It is a car! You don't use nails on a car!
