Hinge pin replacement
Hi, I'm new to Mustangs and this forum. I have a 69 Coupe. My drivers door seems to sag a bit. What does it take to replace the pins and bushings? Or is it better to get new hinges? Thanks
pin and bushing replacement
This is in the FAQ section. I did mine last weekend. It was really easy since I had my fenders off. When I did mine, the top backing plate fell down inside. I had to take the kick panel and the air conditioning vent off to put it back. Just an FYI. It wasn't that big of a deal.

Here is a pic of the backing plates. They are up top. I took them out and cleaned the rust off them then sprayed them with rust killer. I also cleaned and sprayed all areas with visible rust. Check your hinges for cracks when they are off the car. I had to weld up a crack and peen the pin holes as they also wear enough so the bushings will be loose. You want the bushings to fit tight. I had over an inch of slop when I would pick up on my door when it was opened. Now I have none. It is also time consuming re-adjusting your door for a proper fit. Run a pencil around your hinges to mark their location to get them back close. It may take two people to get the door off and then back on. Be patient and do a good job. You will be suprised when you are done. It is sweet to hear that door when it closes. No more clunk slam bang! Just a clean click
