Default 66 Mustang Interchangeability

I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions for me. I am new to the Mustang scene, having owned (and still own) Pontiacs all my life. My wife has a 66 6 cylinder coupe that I am eventually going to do a V8/5 speed conversion on. First, can anyone tell me what other vehicles (like Falcons for example) I could get a set of used rear leaf springs off of? I have a broken leaf on one of mine, and I am on a real tight budget at the moment. I may have access to a 61 Falcon; would the springs fit? Second, would the V8 motor mount brackets on a 68 Cougar fit my car? The Cougar has a 302. Finally, would the 8" rear from a 65 Fairlane fit my Mustang? Thanks for any help you can give!!!

the answer to all is no....with the possible exception to the rear end, measure it, but you will most likely need to relocate the spring perches

66 engine mounting brackets will fit into a 65, 67-68 engine mounting brackets will not due to them being longer to make up for the extra width of the 67-68....thw engine mounts are the same, not the brackets

well they fit on the first 65 i ever owned. I got some out of a 70 coupe and npd list them as the same part number for the brackets 6028-9-1a

He's asking about the brackets, and not the mounts. NPD lists the brackets as fitting 1965-70, part #6028/9. Says it fits all V8's. I think this is the first time anyone has asked about a used leaf spring fitting properly. I guess just take some measurements if you have the spring handy.

If you compair them side to side, you will see that there is a difference. stuff like this is why I don't trust NPD

Spend what you must on a pair of NEW springs, before you buy anything else.

Pretty sure the rear end is different, probably wider, but the perches can be relocated to make it bolt in.

The engine brackets changed in 67, along with the mounts. If someone has a picture of 70 mounts on a 65, I'd like to see it.

no, the mounts from 66-73 are the same...the brackets for a 65 are unique, as are the 66...
