Default greasing ball joints, control arms, etc.....

Some of you may recall that i am in the process of replacing damn near everything in my front end.

Now that i am reassembling one side, i need to know what is the proper procedure for greasing the new ball joints and upper control arm shafts. I don't think anything has any grease it it now. Is it possible to put too much grease in? And is there some "special" grease i should be using.

Thanks.

There is no such thing as too much grease on ball joints. If you don't have zerks on the control arm, now is a good time to put them in.

Make sure the grease is chassis grease (it is short fiber, unlike wheel bearing grease that is long fiber). It should say "EP" on the tube (which stands for Extreme Pressure). Wipe off the zerk fitting so it looks like it's never been touched. Wipe off the excess from the ball joint. After your first drive of 10-20 miles go back under and wipe them down again.
