Default Front Tire Size?

Doing up Torq Thrust 2's on the 68 Coupe--what size tires for the front does everyone think?? 205's or 215's ??? Its mainly a sunday driver. Im planning on 255's in the rear, if that makes a difference--All of these are on 17" rims too---which size would look best? --- Opinions please---

I would go with 17x8's with the 4 3/4" bs. Run a 225 or 235 on the front and either a 245 or 255 on the back. With the 8" rim, your sidewalls won't buldge as bad with the bigger 255 tire as they would on a 7" rim.

Mojoe,
What size tires are you running on your pony? Also quick ? increasing backspacing moves the tire inboard closer to the suspension true?

If you have the wheels already, the 215 should work out ok for you.
If you are buying wheels, mojoe is correct in pointing out that you 'could' put a wider rim if you wanted to and then also run a wider tire...if that is important to you.

FWIW too, if you want to run a 255 in the rear, I highly recommend an 8 inch rim.

Yes, a higher BS moves the rim in closer to the suspension

245/45 17 Yokohama AES100's on all 4
My torque thrust II's use the 4 3/4" BS

+1 to dodgestang's comment about the 255 tire and the 8" rim. Hopefully you haven't already purchased the 7" ones. Honestly, I would say go with a 245 in the back....visually its really hard to tell between a 245 and the 255 in terms of tread width and I think the 245's will fit better.

Smart man.....I have often wondered why guys run different sized tires and wheels on the front and back. I guess they don't actually drive their cars on the highway, unless they have a spare for both the front and the rear.
