Just some info here..

not all V8s need premium, only the ones with high enough compression to actually need it. It doesnt make your car run any better when you have 7:1-9:1 compression. Over 9.5:1 you need more octane, and most cars built since 1971 dont have that much compression. If you have a 2v 289, chances are it will run just peachy on low grade fuel. The HiPo engines and the 4v engines between 67 and 70 were supposed to run the higher octane fuel. Some still need it, some dont. That is where chamber design, gear ratio, load, and weather come into play.

You dont need to waste money buying premium if your engine doesnt need it. We build engines with lower compression just so we can get the cheap stuff and run it on anything we find. 93 isnt available everywhere, 91 isnt always there either. If your car NEEDS that then you are SOL, so larger chamber heads are nice.
