Rear Valance/Dual Exhaust Question
I have a '65 coupe and will be getting dual exhaust soon. Should I get the GT valence with exhaust holes or is it difficult to line up the pipes with the holes? Any opinions on the quality of the repros? I will be purchasing from CJ Pony Parts if that matters whatsoever. Thanks
Hi,
I found a NOE valance on ebay for 150.00. I had heard that the aftermarket ones do not fit all that well. But I also heard that about all of the aftermarket sheet metal.

Ya, mine doesn't go through the valance, and I don't like it as much. I will be swaping that out eventually.
Just don't have them stick out too far. I don't think the orinal pipes stook out far at all, just looks real cool.
Post pics when your done.

Has anyone done an exhaust exit like dodgestang's & skiprCH's on a 67 car? I like the look of the exhaust coming through like that! It appears that valance is for 65-66 models? If anyone has done on a 67 what valance did you use?
Thanks
Darcy

The pipes shouldn't be too difficult to position for a competent shop. And although a lot of folks prefer to keep the trumpet tips pretty much hidden up in there, the originals stuck out pretty far. I've seen a couple unrestored cars with them and nearly the entire trumpet was exposed.
Word to the wise, though: the "slats" on the trumpet opening will restrict your exhaust flow. Not to mention what they do to the sound (phhht-phhht-phhht). Do yourself a favor and gently open them up a bit with a large flathead screwdriver. And to be honest, the pipes (that the trumpets come attached to) restrict exhaust pretty badly themselves. If you're planning to spend a few hundred dollars on a nice 2.25" system, why would you cap off the last foot of it with bendy 1.75" pipes? You may want too cut the trumpet part off and have only it tacked onto your new system...
