Default What are the basics

I just got the mustang, and its not exactly up to par yet. Its been sitting in my cousins drive way for a couple years now, and besides the obvious cosmetic stuff that needs to be fixed, what are the basics that i need to check for, to get it back up to par? (under the hood im talking about).

well the basics would be the wiring i mean u dont want anything thats going haywire on u and letting u get on fire also if its been sitting there for years i would check the carb and take it apart and see if bugs n such are planted in the carb or mainfold. whats good also is a carb rebuild kit, usually all the old parts tend to ware out so i mean i would check if everything is in order also check the brakes and powersteering. so when u drive it u dont want to brake pedal to fail on u lol

Well if you don't want to spend all your time on checking things up, like the brake for example, make sure the horn works, so you can atleast tell people when the brakes go, and the accelator is stuck, and you can't stop. Or you can listen to rwcstang, but I think my idea would be a little more fun, and less time consuming

Start with the brakes. A car that doesn't run is a problem but a car that doesn't stop is a big problem. Then move on to the electrical and power train.
