Glass insurance is like $20/year. Your a f00l for not having it. You should be mad @ YOURSELF for not carrying glass ins. Even with mudflaps the stone would still have come up off the tire, unless the flags ride the ground. Mud flaps help stop water spray more that debris like stones coming up.

Anyway, I was passing an 18 wheeler and one of his rear tires blew up. The alligator just missed my car by inches as it was flying through the air. The thing about it though, was that it was my 03 Mach1 and I was driving it home from the dealership when it was brand new. Over the years I have had many a rock hit my windshields. It is an unintentional accident, and the only thing you can do about it is to carry a good insurance policy that covers your glass. If your insurance doesn't cover it, ask your dad's friend if his insurance covers it.
In most states the truck operator is responsible for debris that comes from the truck and hits another vechicle directly, if it hits the road and bounces up to hit another vechicle then its considered a road hazard. Rocks dislodged from a tire tread would be under the road hazard rule in most places. Usually vechicle owners are only held responsible for parts or cargo that could be secured.
i would imagine that this would be a different case since it was a part of the truck would be like a rusted muffler falling off a old chevy truck and then u running over it
Mustanglover, What year is the ranger you had the windshield replaced 4 times? I had a 96 ranger and I think I had a new windshield each of the first 3 years I owned it. IT seemed like it was a magnet for rocks.
Just tell the insurance something like a garbage truck, city something or other, or i dunno what else dumped a rock from the back of the truck and it should be covered
but i dunno, i'm only 16. haha
