Default Question guys....

Hey first time poster here. I was just wondering if anyone knew how good or bad insurance is like on a 71 mustang for a 17 y/o. Im going to call my parents insurance company tommarrow but i just wanted to get an idea on how much others are paying. Because i want to buy this really sweet 71 mustang from a friend of mine for 9k..

Thanks in advance for any help.

I know for a fact that most insurance companys don't like insuring older muscle cars, specially to a youngerster (nothing personal) --- damn insurance companies are getting very picky --- put your dad on the registration that way he can insure it under his name (much cheaper) --- insurance quotes depend alot where you live, that type of car for a 17 y/o kid would be around $1,800 for 6 months ($300 per month) give or take.

eitherway, good luck!!!

Should be alot cheaper than that - unless you have it appraised for 9k that is. Older cars usually are VERY cheap, even on 17 year olds. $1800 for 6 months is more like what he would pay for an '04GT (if he could even get insured for that). Definately have your parents listed first on the auto.

But you never know with insurance companies - it really could be 300 per month or 300 per year. Let us know how it works out.

By the way, I paid only $45.00 a month for liability on my first car (84 Cavalier haha), and the same car was only $17 per month for my mom. I quoted for a 95 Mustang GT a couple years later for $250 per month (more than the car payment!) back in 1998.

Like I said depends on the insurance company, but that's the quote I got from my agent (friend of mine) - also, consider the area, every are is different and that I'm sure of!

yea!... I'm a fan for life too --- figure this out, my nick I use everywhere is SCARFACE but I don't have any scar's in my face at all --- I was talking to the wife that I was considering cutting my face just a bit, but she didn't agree, damn it!!!... but maybe one day I might just have an "accident" ("quote") even if it's while I shave, LOL

You might try registering it and insuring it as an antique auto to save some cash. This limits how much you can drive it, but it might be worth looking into.

I know the question is regarding his insurance, but wtf is up with the 9k for the car???? Holy ****e! And how come i never had $9000 to spend on a car?? I remember not sooo long ago working the entire summer to be able to save $1600 for my first car.

Have you had the car appraised.? Seems pretty spendy to me for a 71 unless it is absolutely desirable/rare. But I may be mistaken.
