Default How do I check my VIN number?

I wrote it down, and I looked at a few sites, but had no luck, also some sites say it is 17 characters, I think mine is somewhere near like 13. Can someone help me find a site that will tell me stuff about my cars VIN number? Carfax said the vehicle has to be an 81-present as well.

cars your age have 13 digit vins, you can't use car-fax/ your not gonna likey be able to find any kind of accident info on the car - but there are sites that will decode your vin and give you a breakdown of the options that were installed (like engine, tranny, rear end, etc. code)

Or even better, just fill in the blanks and it will decode it for you.
