Default Rear window leak

Last week I drove my 65 in some real heavy rain, I thought no big deal. I got home and found that water had poured into my trunk. Not just a little. The fender wells had about .5" in them. So I blew all the water out, then this weekend when i had more time I traced the leak to the rear window. I havnt had the rear glass out. How hard is this going to be to fix? There was very minimul rust in the trunk or fender wells but I sanded it and gave the whole floor of the trunk a shot of rust encapilator (sp?). Now I have to fix the leak. Tips? My shop manual just says use tool XXXXX to remove the trim. I figure it prys off but thought i should ask before i go to tearing into things.

no theres a trim tool its in a curvd tyoe shape it removes the realease the clip. if u try adn pry it it will ruin the trim before u get this in depth. find somone to get in the rear of the car by removing the rear seat and give them a flashlight and pour down the rear of the car with a water hose. start with the trunk are if no leaks then procede to the window area.

the water is comming in right under the window. It is to far back to be from the trunk. Also it made my rear package tray wet.

ok well get the tool and remove the trim. now once u get that removed ur gonna have to decide if u want to pull the back window or not u can try and put some bedding and glazing compund in there and see if it stops the leak if not pull the window and reseal with a new rubber and new bedding and glazing compound

Very cool thx man. I did some more looking and the gasket in there is toast in quite a few places. It just has open gaps.

Since the rubber is toast, when you get the chrome off find the edge of the glass and run a blade along that edge. The window should pop out with a little pressure from inside the car. Don't pry out on the glass.
