Default Correct undercoating for 69 Mach1

I have just removed all of the front suspension components of my 69 Mach 1. I have everything in the wheel well cleaned up and need to put the correct type of undercoating before installing all new stuff. The original owner told me (he and I have been working together on this project) that there was never undercoating put on it, but I would like to put something there that would be good.

Painted on a smooth surface, does POR 15 dry smooth or textured?

Undercoating will eventually get water under it and rust the metal. If you use bed liner, your chances of getting water under it are less likely. However, it is best that you get rid of any rust with POR 15 or some other rust encapsulator, then paint it. POR 15 is not textured. Depending on the location of the factory, many Mustangs' undercarriages were only painted with red oxide primer at the factory.

different stuff came from different plants..red oxide is the most popular, and you can get it in spray can pretty much anywhere.

the spray cans are messy and not necessarily cheap..JCwhitney has a brush on kind, 16 bucks for a gallon which is about enough for 1 car
