Default Vinyl/Plastic Paint Question

I'm recoloring some of the plastic pieces in my Mach 1 and i was wondering if you all think i could use PPG DX-330 wax remover to clean the pieces instead of a vinyl cleaner? I dont want to destroy them but i didnt really want to buy another bottle of something i will only use once. What do you think?

we use the dx-330 on everything at school. you may want to try it on the back of one of your pieces to see if it harms it at all. you are supposed to wipe it right off afterwards so it wouldn't have too much time to screw up the plastic.

I have done allot of plastic and vinyl repaints on my 66. Mustangs Unlimited has great vinyl prep spray that worked fantastic for me. After cleaning the part up with soap and water and its dry, you spray this stuff on and let it dry. Then repaint, works like a charm!! Here is my interior shortly after it was complete. The last owner tried to match some blues and did not do a great job so, I re-colored everything to match the seats pony blue (its more like a turquoise).

i would just clean it up really good with soap and water and then apply some adheasion promoter to it to get it to stick, go to your local upholstry shop and see if you can get some from them or call your local paint supplier they should also have some for alot of the plastics we use in the body shop (ie, bumpers, moldings, saturn body panels) but that should make it stick!

Sweet ride slickman...thanks for the info. I picked up some adhesion promoter by Dupli-Color at wally world...hope it works just as well. I have done some small pieces in the past without a promoter and they turned out well. I was just curious since i have a bunch of DX330 if it would help lift 30+ years of dirt and amor-all type products off before using the promoter.
