I just finished up priming all the body panels on mine. I did the best I could with rattle can, but Im going to have it sanded off when it goes for paint and redone professionally. Im just protecting it now

primer doesnt protect the surface its not made to be rained on it absorbs moisture wich in turn will lead to rust again
The car is kept inside my house with 2 dehumidifiers on that floor...

To all of the guys that say rattlecan primers are not good - what is your experience???

I have painted five cars, 4 were basecoat clear coat, 1 was enamel. All were prepped in a parking lot or drveway with rattle can primer. 3 of the paint jobs were insurrance jobs. One of them looked great for at least five years - I owned the truck in Tennesee - but then I sold it after five years. All of the other ones, people wer happy to hand over their insurrance check for, and I served in the Army with them for at least 3 more years after I painted their car.

Also, I usually paint with PPG and I used Krylon, wal-mart brand, and Auto-zone brand of primer and never saw a difference. You don't need a sealer with base coat clear coat, because the clear will seal it.

because u never know what is going to react with the primer and the sealer, and base and clears or single stage etc. trust me thats why we wont work on anything that someone else has done at the shop i work at we at least reprime the entire car and let it sit to make sure nothing reacts cuae the other paints solvent will settle in the primer and can soften them up etc.
