Default Motor Mounts not lining up

Ok so I have been struggling trying to get the motor mount bolt holes lines up. My dad and I have the engine in the car, but we can't get the holes to line up. The front hole seems to be fine, but when you put the bolt all the way in, it doesn't go throught the hole. The rear of the motor mounts seems to be sitting too high or something, and it just doesn't line up right, it's off maybe 1/4".

Anybody have any tricks to get these to line up? I have been using a combination of the engine puller and jack to get them to line up, but no success. Any info is appreciated!!!

With standard mounts, I've always left everything loose, until all the bolts are started a couple of turns by hand. Then I start tightening things up with the engine sitting where I want it.

I had a similar problem. I put the mounts on the engine first, then i dropped it onto the frame and it was much easier.

Well nothing is tight yet, bolts are all loose. Maybe the bolts around the bellhousing can be loosened a little more, I'll check it, but nothing has been torqued down. I just need to get the motor mounts lined up so I can stick that big bolt through and get that all taken care of.

Ok well we got them all on, we had to unbolt the parts comming off of the shock tower, then put those back on. Eventually we got it. Thanks guys!!!

Next step.....attaching flywheel to torque converter, two down, two to go (with 1 having a semi-stripped stud, before we messed with it)
