pcv hose breather valve

Default pcv hose breather valve

1965 convertible 289. Attached to the black hose leading from the pcv valve is another valve which appears to be a pressure relief style. Does anyone know what that valve is called and its purpose? Thank you.

Something does not sound right here. The hose from the pcv valve coming out of the valve cover should go to vacuum, usually in the carb plate or intake manifold. Should not be something in between...
