Default tach question

I have a 69 351 fastback and I was wondering where I hook up the tach lead? Does it go tp the distributer?

usually all tach wires are the same color... so red goes to ignition power, white goes to dash lighting, black goes to battery ground, and green to (-) side of coil. if you have msd or electonic ignition you run green to the tach output on the box.

A "TACH" is just short for Tachometer. its the gauge that tells you the engine's RPM. if you have an auto there is really no reason for one but if its a manual you want to have one to see where the best shift point is. Im sure someone else on can give you a better understanding.
