Default Help, Rusted Bolt

What should I do about this bolt???

My vice grips broke it off at the water pump and I had to pry the timing cover off.

BTW this is what happens when your friend has a sand blaster at work.

Might have to cut it off, center punch it, drill it and re-tap it

try to drill a hole through the bolt so u can stick something through it and possibly turn it, or use a cutting wheel and cut it off flush with the block then drill it out and hopefully use a tap and dye set set to clean up the threads.

If you think there is a remote possibility of turning it, you could try to file/grind flats on it so you can grab it with a wrench. (Plug that hole first with a rag or something. You want to keep it clean in there ) The closer to the hole the better, to minimize bending forces. Might be worth a shot, and if it snaps again lower down you can still cut it and drill it out.

Don't cut it off at the block if you don't need to thouse bolts are case harded and are just about impossible to drill, get a torch and heat it to red hot and use the vise grips.
