Default new ambition nurburgring

My new ambition is to take my 65 with a 302, if they let me on, around nurburgring under 10 mins, my many concerns are the suspension and brakes, i have power front discs but i know the suspension is too soft even for everday IMO so what is the best way forward I want stock look, no lowering. In short i want a classic american that the handling is more akin to a classic european/modern european.

Now, that's some pretty fine driving ability, and goes to show you that a lot of race times has to do with the driving ability of the driver. I taught school at Spangdahlem, Germany for several years, and took a 7th grade class to that track on a field trip. The track itself is an interesting proving ground, but they also have tons of things for folks to do off track. I remember getting into a down slope rail car, and being released and hitting a wall only going 10 miles an hour, and it slapped my shoulder with the seat belt real good. I had a bruise the next day on my shoulder. It made the kids realize just how important seat belts are.
I also remember reading something about Cadillac taking its' sports car there to test something. I can't remember what it was, but Cadillac changed the thing they were testing because of the results of that track.

I know I am!!!!

There are some simple things you can do to make your car legal for the "Ring". Without making any permanent modifications. it will probably cost you about 150 Euro, and a half days work.

Buy a cheap bicycle/motorbike mirror, open up you wing window on the passenger side and wrap the vertical bar with some tape and mount the mirror.
Buy a flasher unit and a flasher swith for a '66 Mustang, then either buy or make an adapter plug to go between the turn signal/horn wiring plug, and the dash harness it plugs into. That's all they did in '66.

If you are serious and need some help to do this, send me a PM and I'd be more than happy to help. One condition. If you go, you have to film it and share with all of us poor folk.

If you want to really make your suspension work, while keeping it looking original, I can help you with that too. Now your talking close to 2000 Euro complete to buy all the parts, and a couple of weekends worth of work.

Thanks for sharing that video. That was awesome!

Managaged to get a new mirror for the passenger side $10, i think i can get away without the flashers, next is a monto carlo bar and export brace. Then the suspension upgrade will come later.

If you go there I want pictures. I wish I could go there and take laps on that track ever since the first time I saw it. That would be sweet.
