something is telling me your mom dosent even know why she is right....but she is.....i can think of about a billion other things to do before worrying about a rear end....i have an 8" and likely will never upgrade it, although if i do it will be to a burly 9" when i have money that i'd other-wise use after a toilet punishing session if you catch my drift...in your case, it should be on the list definitely, as your gonna wanna swap to 5 lug im sure so you have decent wheel choices....

once you get an V8 in there then thats when you would wanna simultaneously be thinking of a rear end....

you should definitely consider having a long chat with your mom about who's money it is.....and tell her it would be very unlikely to put my money in the bank if i knew it was going under lock and key....especially if you want to actively restore a car....i mean i dont know how old you are but your at least younger than 18....your mom forcing you to save your money isnt a bad thing.....its actually been good to you in this situation as it would be essentially a big waste in this situation.....i mean do you think it would be good to buy a FLAK cannon and only have .22 bullets???

heres some things to blow money on first.....

V8 - build it on the side....

Body Mods??? Paint???

DISC BRAKES - Very Important....especially if you drive it....

I'm just repeating what's been said...

But, you should work on other aspects of the car before worrying about the rear. Front disc brakes are a definite safety improvement (mom will like that) that will require a suspension upgrade, which is also about safety (mom will like that). Now for the ultimate safety improvement, you should also get rear disc brakes. Now, you'll need to get an 8" rear in order to do this.

Other things to consider are the quality of the interior, body, engine, and trans. If any of these need attention, you'd be well off paying attention to them.

first thing first i will never swap to a v8 and the reason i havent swapped to a disc front brakes is cause i want to go mustang 2 front suspension and i plan on modding the hell out of this motor and it has a WC T-5 so i know im good in that department for awhile and my motor has a decently aggressive cam over sized valves stiffer valve springs roller rockers dual roller timing chain dual out header goin through flowmaster 40s and a 2brl carb and the main reason i want the 9in instead of an 8 is cause im plannin ahead cause i plan on turboin the motor and putting a much more aggresive cam in it along with a coil over rear suspension that needs a 9in

i am 17 and i took no offense to the get a job post i was just tellin y i dont have one

Man, you've done alot to that I6, i would have ripped it out, and thrown in a V8. That car should move though with a turbo. YOu'd get my stock 289.
